She is the Second Bassoonist of the Dearborn Symphony Orchestra. Madeline currently serves as Adjunct Professor of Bassoon at Hope College, where she provides individualized instruction and chamber coaching for undergraduate musicians. She is also pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Bassoon Performance and a Master of Musicology at Michigan State University. She holds a Master of Music from the Cleveland Institute of Music and a Bachelor of Music from Michigan State University. As a performer, Madeline has appeared with orchestras across the Midwest, including the Kalamazoo, Ann Arbor, Battle Creek, and Saginaw Bay symphonies. Her solo and chamber performances include numerous premieres and collaborations with living composers. She is a passionate advocate for new music and has commissioned and premiered a range of contemporary works for bassoon, including pieces by Rehmann, Collison, Trentadue, Marcussen, and Fitch. She is also featured as a recording artist in the PBS series "Now Hear This". In addition to performing and teaching, Madeline is committed to outreach and advocacy. She founded Enriching Lives through Music, a nonprofit focused on bringing live performance to underserved communities and has served in leadership roles within Michigan State’s Council of Graduate Students. She maintains an active performance career throughout Michigan, performing regularly with ensembles including the Lansing, Jackson, and Grand Rapids Symphonies. Prior to relocating to Michigan, Erica enjoyed performing with the Central Pennsylvania Symphony for their 2023-2024 season, as well as freelancing throughout Pennsylvania, Texas, and Louisiana. In addition to performing, Erica is a dedicated reedmaker, producing and selling hundreds of reeds each month to both companies and individual customers. She serves as the bassoon instructor at the Flint Institute of Music and maintains an active and growing private studio of students ranging from young beginners to adult hobbyists. Erica is particularly passionate about her role as a graduate assistant for the MSU Bassoon Studio, where she has the opportunity to teach and support her fellow bassoonists in their musical studies. Through her work as a performer, educator, and reedmaker, Erica is committed to fostering musicianship, curiosity, and confidence in bassoonists at every stage of their development. Erica holds a Master’s degree in Performance from the University of North Texas and a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Delaware. She began playing the bassoon in middle school and went on to earn her Bachelor of Music in Bassoon Performance from Shenandoah Conservatory. During her undergraduate studies, Megan performed as a substitute with the Piedmont Symphony and served as principal bassoonist for Canto Vocal Program’s Summer 2024 production of The Marriage of Figaro. She previously earned her bachelor’s degree in bassoon performance from Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Georgia. She has studied under Dr. Shelly Unger and Professor Anthony Georgeson. Bailey was chosen to be part of the student fellowship with the Georgia Symphony Orchestra for the 2025-2026 season. He holds a Master of Music in Bassoon from the Tianjin Juilliard School (2024–2026) and a Bachelor of Music in Bassoon Performance from the Central Conservatory of Music (2018–2022). As an active performer, Qiao has appeared on major international stages. In 2023, he performed 96 shows as a bassoonist on Jacky Cheung’s 60+ Concert World Tour. Currently based in East Lansing, Michigan; she frequently appears with the Lansing Symphony Orchestra, the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra, and will serve as Second Bassoon of the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra beginning July 2026. In addition to performing, Sierra also maintains a private bassoon studio of middle and high school students from mid-Michigan and is the coach of the Spartan Youth Wind Symphony bassoon section. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Bassoon Performance from Ball State University in 2021 and her Master of Music in Bassoon Performance from Michigan State University in 2023. While at Ball State, she was the winner of the 2019-2020 Undergraduate Concerto Competition. During her time at Michigan State, she has been a member of the Symphony Orchestra, Wind Symphony, Chamber Winds, and the Goat Rodeo Reed Quintet. Her primary teachers include Michael Kroth, Keith Sweger, and Bill Jobert. He began playing the bassoon about 4 and a half years ago and has loved the instrument ever since. My name is Katherine Dahn, and I am from Tecumseh Michigan. I am a senior Bassoon Performance Major who is also getting a science degree in Neuroscience.
